Windy Thistle

This painting is the next in my wildflower series that concentrates on the prickly purple thistle. The photo I took of the thistle had such beautiful motion and the suggestion of a cross on the top of the bloom. It seemed to take on a personality all it's own as it danced in the wind. I concentrated on spontaneity in the rendering of the sky which I tend to overwork, in this case I was happy with the results the first time. I must learn to be happy with my initial instincts...so easy to overwork a painting.
